Governor's School for the Arts is a summer program to meet students and faculty across the state to enhance your learning in the creative and performing arts. It will take place between June 14 - July 5, 2020 at Marshall University at no cost to students.
Must be a current sophomore with a 2.5 average GPA during freshman year or have first-grading-period grades that show you can bring the average up to 2.5 by the end of the first semester of 10th grade.
Exhibit a strong commitment to personal artistic development. Areas include: Acting, Creative Writing, Dance, Digital Art, Instrumental Music, Studio Art, and Vocal Music
The window apply is November 12th - December 16th.
Interested students come to the counseling center to speak with Mr. Glass for details as soon as possible.
UHS Students must submit Part 2 of the application to Mr. Glass by Monday, December 9th. Part 2 must include:
The receipt of Part 1 attached
Two letters of recommendations
Your essay written (It is recommended that you write your essay in Microsoft Word and then paste it into the application).
Your application will be returned to you by Thursday November 12th. It is the student's responsibility to mail the entire packet to Sherry Keffer, West Virginia Department of Education, Building 6, Room 221, 1900 Kanawha Boulevard East, Charleston, WV 25305. It must be postmarked by December 16, 2020.
